Almost done #2 (#1 below)

Upstairs of rear of house. All that's left for siding is the front of the shop (almost done as I write) and the tiny sections of the upstairs front and rear sides. These 2 young men, brothers, are Russian and their dad works with them. Very nice, hard-working and talented people! I'll miss all their banter and chatter after they are done! The rain & cold came back today, but they work without complaint :) Now all that needs to be done is to wait for the dry weather to return, in about 5 days?? and they can paint -- yippee! It's slated to rain through Sunday and I fly back to Singapore on Thursday -- Hope I can get a picture or two of the finished house!?!?

Downstairs back is done. The shop roof looks just like the house roof - clean of all moss and junk and both dark grey.

Side with attic window is done. It was sunny and almost warm the day this was taken.

Garage side of house is done. :-) From start to finish, the siding took just a little over a week. For the last couple of days (yesterday and today, they double-teamed (4 siders and 2 cutters) to finish the job before I leave) Nice job guys!!! VERY NICE!!!

House almost done #1 ....

New ceiling heat in downstairs bath -- new vented heat lamp upstairs bath (the floor joists were too close together to do the vented heat lamp thing downstairs - darn)

New gutters all around house, shop and back porch.

This is the tiny room made out of an attic space. About 6 ft by 11 ft. Perfect for playing or TV -- always was VERY HOT OR VERY COLD because there was no insulation -- they fixed that too :-) Don't worry - they'll patch the whole when the dry-waller comes -- Plus take out and replace some badly stained/molded sheet rock in a couple of places, too.

Forgot to get a picture of the guys doing the insulation, but this is the '2x3 hole' that they had to crawl through to get to the underside of the house - the insulators put down new visquene (that thick black plastic that is a moisture barrier from the dirt on the undersides of homes).

Here's the dryrot on the shop - see the concrete slab at the bottom of it? 3/4 of 2 sides and the entire back at ground level were affected. The siders cut away all the bad junk and replaced the plywood. Then new drainage (vented pipes and rock) will be put in and the dirt that had covered it all for decades will be pushed back, never to touch my buildings again ;-)

~~~ Reflections of Christ ~~~
In this time of unrest I pray that we will all remember who we belong to.
I do hope that this small presentation of our Savior will brighten your day and bring you peace of heart, even for just a moment.
This is very nicely done. It's a short vignette of Christ's life set to one of my favorite hymns, "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" . The site will explain who created this little masterpiece.
May you enjoy watching this short video of the life of our Savior and let the scenes and music calm you.
The work has begun :) yeah :)
Electrical first, which will take 3-5 days....putting some new circuits in, etc.
And while we're waiting for the electrical guys to finish, they will....make a new porch overhang...
and put up roofing/siding and gutters on the shop and then...
the insulation re-do in the house and finally siding and gutters on the main house..
and then it will be finished. about 3-4 weeks (OH, and the plumber had a 1 hour job on fixing the master bath showerhead and leak - done =-)
I leave 2 weeks from tomorrow (Nov 6th) - I can leave peacefully knowing that the house will be whole and warm before Thanksgiving - phew!
Some random fun shots
Livvy and the boys at Julian's bus stop with our "watch cat"
The boys and I found a new park to play in -- it's a pretty little park in the "neighborhood woods" with a nice big play toy.
Thomas drinking out of my bathroom fountain - the silly boy has always preferred running water - this one is a 'no brainer' for him ;-)
Looks like snow in October?? nope- it's hail =-) lasted about 8 minutes or so.
Trissy's in preschool - it's official :)
My kitties like warm cars and sofas -- what a pair of 'couch potatoes' =-)
"TAG" it's safe, clean, easy, quick & fun =-)
You're it -- Here's what you do...
...go to your picture file - go to the 4th folder and click on the 4th picture -- I wasn't clear if you should do the 4th oldest folder or the 4th newest folder, so I did both -- for fun and variety...
First -- the 4th newest -
Now, this is a BIG problem because this picture was taken in late August and it still looks like this!! argh! The refinance is still not ready for my signatures (I have Power of Attorney to sign my husband's name to all the docs - so what's the hangup!?!?) It's been raining for the last 4 days and it's getting colder -- can we all say "it's fall in the Pacific Northwest, silly :( "
Would you all help me out - I need prayers said for:
1) my sanity (I've been reading a lot, watching a lot of movies and listening to classical music)
2) my home's safety
3) for the flippin' (oh, sorry!) mortgage people to get their acts together
4) and a "thank you" to you, for helping me =-)
And second - the 4th oldest --
Fortunately, you cannot see the plate under Bryan's hand -- it's full of deep-fried BUGS FROM CHINA! Yes, he brings them back with him from China to give his house guests little "treats" -- They are grubs, worms, grasshoppers and other such disgusting creatures that are not meant to be eaten by humans (does that mean Bryan's not human - I wonder often =-) -- Sarah looks like she's going to throw-up, but she actually ate 2 of them after this picture was taken. This was taken a little over a year ago in Singapore.
